Research

My main research interests are on topics commonly referred to as computer vision: projective geometry, structure-from-motion, SLAM, etc.

SfM Multi-views

Methods for Structure-from-Motion (SfM)

  • Camera self-calibration
  • Bundle Adjutsment (BA)
  • Optimization techniques (Levenberg-Marquardt, Trust region, Line search,...)

These topics are the core of recent applications sush as:

  • Match moving
  • 3D reconstruction / 3D modelling

Related paper: Algebraic Line Search

 Simultaneous Localization And Mapping (SLAM)

A camera and an IMU mounted on a bicycle.

  • Incremental SfM SLAM
  • Embedded visual with inertial (INS/IMU, Odometer, ...) SLAM (Kalman/BA approaches)

The SLAM technique is a powerfull technique that can be used in applications that need camera localization such as:

  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Augmented Reality
  • Geolocation
  • 3D reconstruction / 3D modelling

And also...

I am also interested in several areas including

  • Computer Graphics (3D engine, simulation, ray tracing,...)
  • Image Processing (Image & video Compression, Segmentation, Recognition, ...)
  • Recursive Systems (Fractals, L-systems, etc.)
